Global Partnership for Afghanistan Appoints Regina Eddy as Executive Director

September 15, 2003, New York City – The Global Partnership for Afghanistan announced the appointment of Regina Eddy as its Executive Director. Formerly Executive Director of the Armenian Assembly Tree Project (AATP), Ms. Eddy brings 20 years of experience in developing community-based non-profit organizations, grassroots fundraising, coalition building, and leadership development.

In 1994, Ms. Eddy founded the Armenian Assembly Tree Project (AATP) to help residents of the then newly formed Republic of Armenia plant and tend trees to improve their living conditions and heal the environment. Today, the organization has planted over 400,000 trees at hundreds of community sites supported by contributions from its 6,000 supporters. Ms. Eddy also led the successful establishment of two bare-root tree nurseries and a village micro-enterprise focused on dried fruit production. These initiatives created 300 seasonal and 45 permanent jobs in Armenia.

In addition, Ms. Eddy has held leadership positions in several Boston-based nonprofit organizations engaged in environmental and community development. She has supervised field staff for several electoral campaigns (congressional, mayoral) and two ballot initiatives. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Clark University in Worcester, MA with a BA in psychology.
