District Council Endorses GPFA Projects to Rehabilitate Local Horticultural Production
November 4, 2003, Guldara, Afghanistan – The District Council of Guldara in the Kohdaman Valley of Afghanistan endorsed plans by the Global Partnership for Afghanistan (GPFA) to rehabilitate local horticultural production.
Following comprehensive discussions with a high level mission of GPFA regarding development of agricultural projects in Afghanistan, Mohammad Azim Delagha, Woluswal (leader) of the District Council of Guldara, announced that the Council offers its full support to GPFA's planned projects as well as its technical and managerial expertise. "…The Council believes that, with GPFA's national and international knowledge and understanding, the project will be successfully implemented."
The Council further pledged its full cooperation in the training/educating of farmers for the project. According to Delagha, "Afghanistan is in dire need of such projects for its agricultural reconstruction. Having complete trust in GPFA, we (the council members) promise our total cooperation of the people of Guldara."
GPFA plans to launch its initial projects in Guldara early in the spring of 2004.
